Celebration is a very big part of Armenian culture. Whether sharing in a feast, singing a familiar song, or joining a circle of dance, much of Armenia’s cultural heritage creates a festive mood. Armenia’s local festivals are a perfect place to experience this heritage, providing locals and visitors alike with opportunities to engage and join in the celebration.
FestivAr Association of Armenian Festivals was founded by a group of festival organizers by support of My Armenia Program, a cultural heritage tourism program funded by USAID and implemented by the Smithsonian Institution, in 2017 to coordinate, promote, and support the sustainable development of festivals in Armenia. Today, FestivAr’s 20 members are responsible for 30 festivals across the country. FestivAr aims to support this growing sector, bringing festival organizers together to share resources and participate in the expansion of this exciting sector in cultural heritage and tourism.
